<body-html>
Prologue

Our first departure into a major festival organisation was in 2007 at the Peel Bay Festival. This was held over 7 nights with 16 artists that ranged from The Who, yes the actual Who, to McFly and Madness, please click here to see information on the PBF 2007 website. All the artists played in a field just outside Peel to 25,000 people. There were over 1 million hits lodged from all over the world on the Peel Bay Festival website.

Jonathan Irving, Festival Promoter

Jonathan Irving, founder of the Street Heritage Group, has for some 20 years helped to restore through his passion and conviction the inner heart of Peel, establishing the group as property developers by trade and community builders by vocation. Through his building work Jonathan realised to really help regenerate a town you first need to regenerate mindsets and instil self belief. So he set about organising events such as the Isle of Man Viking Festival which quickly extended into a music concert on Peel Beach to bolster the reputation of Peel. From there he decided to really challenge perceptions and begun to organise the 2007 Peel Bay Festival to really put Peel on the map. For this he utilised the Valhalla tent, the largest temporary structure in Europe, bought 5,000 chairs, built 16 toilet blocks and showers and flew artists in such as The Who, Ronan Keating, Robin Gibb, Sugababes etc on to and off the island who all played to an ecstatic 25,000 people over 7 nights.

Jonathan’s key role now is to pull everything together and to co-ordinate all parties to ensure that the 2010 Manx Telecom Bay Festival is as successful as the 2007 Peel Bay Festival – if not better! His emphasis has moved from promoting Peel to now promoting and all island festival for the entire population. It is drive and enthusiasm that has created the festival.

Jamie Irving, Festival Director

Son of Jonathan, Jamie from an early age has been involved in the family business and now fronts up the original construction businesses. His degree featured a thesis on economic development through re-generation and as a result he recognises the economic importance of the festival as a tool to bolster on island and off island tourism. It also helps to try and lift people out of all the gloom we have all been stuck in now for so long.

Apart from his passion in regeneration Jamie’s role in the 2010 festival is co-promote the festival.

Cheryl Baxter, Festival Co-ordinator

Cheryl has a wealth of experience in sales, project management and event management having been involved with companies such as Hewlett-Packard and most pertinently the Liverpool Garden Festival.
Cheryl brings to the festival a fine eye for detail, level thinking and a tenacious attitude. Her core role is to advise and put into place the plans set by Jonathan and Jamie and is a valued member of the team.

Richard Agar, Production Manager

Richard Agar has been involved in the production and management of events and festivals for some 20 years. As production director/health and safety manager (holding a NEBOSH certificate for occupational Safety and Health) he has had the responsibility for delivering some of the North of England’s largest events in recent years.

These major civic events have included Newcastle Gateshead New Years Eve Celebrations since the events inception for Millennium Eve, Stockton International Riverside Festival, “Feel the Noise Live” events for the EMAP radio group, and more recently the production of the Eve of Parade of Sail Event for Tall Ships in Newcastle, the welcome to the Tyne for the QE 2 on her final round Britain tour, and most recently the construction of a Bamboo Bridge across the River Tyne by the Australian company Bambuco.
In 2007 Richard was part of the team that successfully delivered the Peel Bay Festival and has returned in 2010 with co -production manager Ian Bone to co-ordinate the technical and Health & Safety demands for the Manx Bay Telecom Festival.

Ian Bone, Production Manager

Ian Bone is also a vastly experienced production and stage manager working in the industry for 25 years, the majority of his work being on large scale public events involving theatre, music, festivals and street theatre.

Ian has been responsible for music stages at Edinburgh’s Hogmanay and the Edinburgh International Festival Fringe as well as a period as manager of the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. Other major festivals and events have included production management for Newcastle’s Chinese New Year celebrations, the Merchant City Festival in Glasgow, and the Mouth of the Tyne Festival. Most recently Ian managed the production of Living Frontier a major historical re-enactment with over 500 performers and One Magic Summer in Trafalgar Square.

Ian was also part of the team that delivered the Peel Bay Festival in 2007 and returns in 2010 as the stage manager for the event in addition to his role as co- production manager.

Richard and Ian are totally confident that the technical team they are putting together for 2010 will deliver a festival that surpasses the outstanding success of Peel Bay in 2007 with a wider stage (40m instead of 20m), 4 massive video screens as opposed to 2 smaller ones in 2007 with greater lighting and stage effects. So it all indicates that the Manx Telecom Bay Festival is going to be one massive ‘stonkin’ festival!
